Congratulations to Jeanette Harrington, a Lieutenant with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR), on being named the 2026 recipient of the Health Care Heroes First Responder Award by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

The Health Care Heroes Awards Program recognizes outstanding health care professionals, first responders, organizations, volunteers, and programs across South Florida that demonstrate exceptional service, leadership, innovation, and commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community.

Lt. Harrington has proudly served with MDFR for 23 years, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to both the department and the community. In addition to her service with MDFR, she has worked closely with the American Lung Association, helping raise more than $100,000 to support its mission. She also led the annual Autism Bike Ride, raising over $70,000 for organizations that support individuals with autism and their families.

This well-deserved honor reflects Lt. Harrington’s longstanding commitment to service, leadership, and community engagement, as well as the meaningful impact she continues to make throughout South Florida both on and off duty.

About Us

The People and Internal Operations Department ensures efficient County operations and fosters a thriving workforce by integrating internal services and human resources management. The department provides facility, construction, fleet, and risk management, along with ADA compliance, real estate, security, and parking services.

It supports workforce development through performance management, employee training, diversity programs, and collective bargaining, while addressing workplace policies, payroll, and workforce metrics. Additionally, the department resolves discrimination cases through investigation and mediation. Serving County departments, employees, and the community, it is committed to operational excellence and an equitable workplace.
