Seaport’s Anchor Award Winner

Congratulations to Sebastian Yavar, Seaport Strategy Officer, on being named the 2026 Employee of the Quarter: The Anchor Award recipient for the First Quarter in recognition of his exceptional initiative, innovation, and commitment to advancing PortMiami’s strategic goals.
The Anchor Award recognizes Seaport employees who demonstrate exceptional performance, innovation, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence. The program celebrates employees who exceed expectations in their roles, make meaningful contributions, and positively impact departmental goals through their dedication and leadership.
As a member of the Strategy Office, Sebastian consistently demonstrates outstanding problem-solving skills and a forward-thinking approach to cargo development. His research and strategic planning have identified opportunities to increase cargo throughput, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen PortMiami’s position as a leading international gateway.
Among his notable accomplishments, Sebastian developed a proposal to utilize Florida East Coast Railway’s Hialeah Yard as an inland port, creating additional capacity at PortMiami’s container yards, improving cargo flow, and reducing congestion for both cargo operations and cruise passengers. He also independently identified a potential collaboration with major global shipping lines that could consolidate more Florida cargo through PortMiami, further enhancing the Port’s competitiveness and economic impact.
Beyond his strategic contributions, Sebastian is recognized for his collaborative spirit and willingness to share his expertise with colleagues across the Port. His leadership, innovation, and dedication to excellence exemplify the values celebrated through The Anchor Award and continue to drive PortMiami’s success.
