Service with a smile

Since beginning her career with Miami-Dade County’s People and Internal Operations Department’s Parking Operations Division in November of 2022, Tyrika Grimsley, a Parking Lot Attendant, has greeted and assisted countless County employees and residents who utilize the downtown parking facilities with a warm smile and a willingness to assist in any way possible.
“Since joining the team, I’ve had the opportunity to work at all three downtown parking garage locations and met a lot of people from all over the County”, shared Tyrika. “It’s been great being able to assist them with any issues they may have or just be able to greet them every day.”
The Parking Operations Division handle everything from proving directions and replacing missing parking tickets to fixing malfunctioning key cards and resolving any other issues that may arise.
Most recently, one of the parking garages had an elevator malfunction, which required Tyrika and the entire Parking Operations team to facilitate transporting customers to their vehicles. “We understand that with the elevators being down, it was challenging for everyone” explained Tyrika. “Our focus was to make sure to keep everyone calm and help them get to their cars as quicky as possible”.
Tyrika’s professionalism and positivity didn’t go unnoticed. Fellow County employee Selencia Johnson shared “Despite the challenging situation for staff and constituents, Ms. Grimsley has exuded the epitome of excellent service. She wore many hats in a fast-paced, high-demand environment, assisting patrons with issues at the exit gates and escorting countless others to their vehicles on the higher-level floors, all while greeting everyone with a smile and diffusing their frustrations. She has made an inconvenient circumstance very tolerable, and for that, I want to thank her and the staff at the Hickman Garage”.
Tyrika credits the team in the Parking Operations Division with keeping her motivated. “Being surround by a team of like-minded people who put customers first and strive to go above and beyond keeps me going”, she said “I love the team, we’re always there for each other and come to each other’s aid when needed. We’re more like a family”.
When not assisting customers at the parking garages, Tyrika enjoys spending time with her children and family, trying new foods, and going to the movies.
Her positive attitude, professionalism, and commitment to customer service make her an outstanding representative of the Parking Operations Division and she has this message to share: “Treat others the way you want to be treated. You never know what someone else may be going through”.
Keep THRIVING, Tyrika.
