• Project Setup (2 hours)

  Prerequisites: Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification

  Purpose: To showcase tools that help prepare projects for success.

  Objectives:

  • Identify the best management process to address a work concern
  • Understand the differences among Lean Six Sigma approaches
  • Determine the correct problem-solving track for a selected problem
  • Identify the most important problem using a problem-selection process
  • Prepare a project charter for success

• Decision Analysis (4 hours)

  Prerequisites: Green Belt or Yellow Belt certification with permission from the Office of Management and Budget

  Purpose: To learn how to develop a decision analysis framework, identify potential alternatives and make the best balanced selection.

  Objectives:

  • To understand how to assess the correct management tool "Situation Appraisal"
  • To understand how to apply full Decision Analysis

• Risk Reduction (2 hours)

  Prerequisites: Green Belt or Yellow Belt certification with permission from the Office of Management and Budget

  Purpose: To learn about an advanced process improvement technique consisting of a step-by-step approach for identifying all possible process failures; and to evaluate the risks associated with these failures and develop measures to reduce or eliminate risk.

  Objectives:

  • To understand the major categories of failure modes
  • To understand how to identify, evaluate and develop measures that will prevent failure occurrences or lessen their effect

• Lean Indicators (Lean 2) (4 hours)

  Prerequisites: Yellow Belt or Green Belt Certification, and completion of the Introduction to Lean Analysis course

  Purpose: To further educate County employees in proven Lean Six Sigma methodology.

  Objective: To understand basic Lean analysis tools and techniques for improving process activities

  To obtain a Blue Belt, employees must be:

  • Green Belt-certified
  • Attend all 5 Blue Belt classes
  • Take 5 of the 9 Orange Belt classes (one must be the Introduction to Lean Analysis course)
  • Complete all class assignments

  Green Belts not interested in pursuing a higher belt level are welcome to enroll on a per-class basis. Prerequisites may apply. See class descriptions below for additional details.
